Buildings equipment: Trends & Technologies

We are currently experiencing the consequences of a misguided energy policy. A hesitant approach to growing renewable energies has resulted in valuable years being lost, and the consequences are now being felt clearly by each and every one of us as the energy crisis unfolds. Supply bottlenecks, skills shortages and other infrastructure failures mean the entire economy is facing a huge challenge, and trends and technologies in the electrical and electronics industry are taking on a whole new level of importance as key components of the green energy transition.

Dortmund, 16 December 2022 – elektrotechnik, a trade show focused significantly on buildings technology, is being dedicated to relevant topics related to the green energy transition in terms of both exhibitor focus and its thematic supporting programme.

Buildings Technology Forum (3.E18)

As daily features of the morning programme (10:00 – 12:30 hrs)

trade visitors can look forward once again to the exciting 'Trends & Technologies' forum powered by de. The speakers – currently planned to be from Wago, OBO Bettermann, Hager, Weidmüller, Jung, B.E.G., Esylux, Doepke, Gira, Busch-Jaeger and Bender – will focus on the move towards renewable energies:

  • Electrical safety in the charging infrastructure
  • Lightning and surge protection in solar arrays
  • Fire safety in solar arrays
  • Energy savings through smart buildings technology
  • Lighting control
  • Energy management
  • Charging EVs with surplus solar output

Wednesday (13:00 – 15:00 hrs)

will see the Business Talk turn its attention to the skilled labour situation, with experts discussing promising ways to attract, retain and skill trained operatives.

Thursday (13:00 – 15:00 hrs)

The 'Architekten im Trend' (architects in vogue) forum will once again be aimed specifically at architects.

Friday (13:00 – 15:00 hrs)

The 'Planer im Trend' (planners in vogue) forum will again offer highly interesting talks for planning consultants.

Smart living in high-tech homes: energy transition – sustainability – digitalisation (4.B26)

The show's core themes will reflect the socially and politically relevant topics of the green energy transition, sustainability and digitalisation, and nowhere will this be truer than in the newly designed high-tech 'E-Haus' home which will use interactive applications to illustrate beautifully the benefits of smart buildings technology. In particular, topics such as the way off-grid systems work and the whole issue of 'smart health' will offer a host of practical insights.

  • Highest security standards via voice control without external cloud use, and KNX Secure for the ultimate in data protection
  • Efficient energy management through AI-assisted cross-manufacturer energy management
  • Use of artificial intelligence, for example AI-assisted monitoring of breathing air for diabetes patients, complete with emergency call functionality
  • Home comforts such as networked kitchen appliances and controllable cupboards
  • Smart connectivity using KNXnet/IP and Modbus/TCP
  • Innovative lighting technology via KNX controllable light and room scenes
  • Assistance systems such as inactivity monitoring, floor sensors, remote monitoring and links to the emergency call centre
  • Smart control: equipment fully controllable via smartphone, tablet, smartwatch and voice

Dortmund Lighting Day 2023 (10:00 – 13:00 hrs on Thursday, North Entrance I)

Light technology and lighting equipment are one of the key exhibition themes at elektrotechnik and are incorporated in the Buildings Technology focus area. The Dortmund Light Day is being organised jointly by the trade association and the 'LiTG' German Lighting Society. The following topics will also be included with a view to the green energy transition, networking and digitalisation:

  • Phasing-out of more lamp types (T16, TC, ...)
  • IT security in automated private homes and commercial buildings
  • DIN EN 12464-1-2021 – Changes and new features in the updated standard
