elektrotechnik 2023: Trade show comeback with exciting innovations and lots of highlights

elektrotechnik • Feb. 08, 2023

The 43rd elektrotechnik is addressing the latest topics in the three key focus areas of Buildings Technology, Industrial Technology and Energy Technology.

Between 8 and 10 February 2023, the Messe Dortmund halls are once again set to become the centre of the electrical engineering sector when the popular elektrotechnik show returns following a break of approximately four years. The focus will be on innovations in the key focus areas of buildings technology, industrial technology and energy technology. Complementing the informative specialist forums in these three areas, a varied supporting programme will include the 'Touchpoint Innovation Digital' and innovations such as the GREEN SOLUTIONS speciality zone. Highly respected big names in the industry will be in attendance at this key 'buyer meets seller' event showcasing trends and topics of future importance in electrical engineering, and they will be joined by some hidden champions presenting their new products and innovations at the venue.

Dortmund, 8 February 2023 – Four years after the last show, it is already clear as elektrotechnik 2023 gets underway that this – the 43rd show – is also very much the key venue for the electrical industry in North Rhine Westphalia between 8 and 10 February. One of the reasons for this is the large number of big-name exhibitors presenting products and services in four halls at Messe Dortmund:

  • Hall 3: Buildings technology
  • Hall 4: Buildings technology, energy technology, industrial technology
  • Hall 5: Energy technology, industrial technology
  • Hall 6: Werk-Stadt, occupational safety seminars by accident insurance & prevention agency ETEM

Exciting innovations bring key future topics into focus

The forced break in the two-year cycle due to Covid has given the show's organisers an opportunity to refine the elektrotechnik proposition in certain key areas. The show focuses on the three main topic areas of Buildings Technology, Energy Technology and Industrial Technology, highlighting tech trends and current industry topics under these three major banners. The new focus areas within these include building information modelling (BIM), renewable energies and smart manufacturing as well as smart homes, computer-based construction, measurement technology and predictive maintenance. The three-day industry get-together welcomes tradespeople, the electrical and electronics industry and electrical wholesalers to Dortmund, where the proposition is also aimed at architects, planners, energy consultants, energy suppliers, grid operators and representatives of municipalities.

One key innovation is the GREEN SOLUTIONS speciality zone which will play host to a variety of businesses offering sustainable solutions for solar power systems, heat pumps and energy management systems. At the Touchpoint Innovation Digital stand, visitors will have the opportunity to see digitalisation at work in real time, with several individual suppliers showing their leading-edge products, services and innovations for visitors to see, feel and touch. These cover areas such as data analysis, AI and cyber security.

The TreffPunkt association stand of the North Rhine Westphalia Electrical & Information Technology Trade Association (FEH NRW) and National Association of Electrical Wholesalers (VEG) also offers visitors from the trades, industry, architecture, planning, retail and media the opportunity to engage in discussion.

Sabine Loos, Managing Director of Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe which owns and operates the Messe Dortmund venue, is looking forward to the elektrotechnik relaunch: “We're delighted to be welcoming once again a large number of well-known businesses as well as trade visitors, industry associations and opinion leaders to elektrotechnik. We're convinced that we have once again raised the already high standards of the show with the new thematic approach and with informative additions to the programme. In so doing, we are once again offering the industry what has been a greatly missed forum for discovering the latest trends and innovations and for engaging face-to-face.”

Famous-name exhibitors at the venue

In terms of exhibitors, elektrotechnik is making its comeback with a broad, attractive offering including key industry players at the 2023 relaunch. Energy Technology Forum (5.D09)

Right from the get-go on 8 February, the 'Fachforum Energietechnik powered by Elektropraktiker' will have no shortage of inspiration and new specialist knowledge as Rolf Meurer leads through five informative talks centring around 'Green Solutions'. The second morning of the show will be dedicated to the 'Stadtwerkeforum' forum for municipal works operations, chaired by Roger Filges from Bielefelder Netz GmbH. Five instructive half-hour talks are planned. On the final Friday, speakers will focus on control cabinet construction.

The extensive programme will be supplemented daily from 13:00 to 15:00 hrs with the 'ep-Messtechnik-Forum' covering the basics of measurement and testing complete with practical guidance.

The 'ep-Messtechnik-Forum' featuring experts from PRO-EL and Easee will be presented by Elektropraktiker on all three days of the event.

Industrial Technology Forum (5.B06)

The 'Fachforum Industrietechnik powered by VDE Verlag' will offer theory content each day on varying focus topics. On Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 hrs, for example, the spotlight will be on energy efficiency, with input from people like efficiency agency Effizienz-Agentur NRW which will be presenting a model project for existing industrial estates.

On Thursday, the focus will be on energy management. Friday morning will then be dedicated to 'IoT for SMEs'. The daily specialist programme between 13:00 and 15:00 hrs will include various interviews and talks by 'Touchpoint Innovation Digital'. The GIH will then take guests on a tour of the show.

elektrotechnik welcoming new partners The German Energy Consultants' Association (GIH)is a new cooperation partner of the show, complementing the expert line-up and offering lots of added value especially for energy consultants. This isn't only new cooperation: indeed the German Institute for Preventive Fire Safety (DIvB) is another new partner of elektrotechnik 2023 and will be present with its own dedicated stand.

ELEKTROTECHNIK – TRADE FAIR FOR BUILDING SERVICES, INDUSTRIAL, ENERGY AND LIGHTING APPLICATIONS

For over 50 years, elektrotechnik has had its finger on the pulse as a central meeting place for the industry. This trend-setting fair, held every two years at Dortmund Exhibition Centre, creates an attractive marketplace for manufacturers, wholesalers, service providers and tradespeople, and for those engaged in research and development. Rarely before has the industry been changing as quickly and rapidly as it is now – in times of digitalisation, the Smart Factory and Smart Home revolutions, and given the increasing overlap between manufacturers and tradespeople. These are changes that the fair takes into account, with (among other things) its key emphasis on building, lighting and power management equipment, and industrial technology.
